Care & Maintenance
The artisanal nature of our products indicates that each piece may possess slight imperfections and unique characteristics. As all of our items are handcrafted, they require gentle care and attention when being cleaned and maintained. Here are some tips:
TEAK WOOD
Here’s a simple guide for cleaning teak furniture:
- Begin by rinsing your teak furniture with a hose set to a low or medium pressure. It's important to avoid high pressure, as it can damage the wood.
- Next, prepare a bucket of water and use a sponge or soft brush to gently scrub the furniture. Be sure to scrub along the grain, not against it, and pay attention to corners and crevices. If you're using a brush, apply light pressure to prevent harming the wood.
- After scrubbing, rinse the teak item with the hose again at a low or medium pressure.
- Finally, wipe the teak with a dry cloth and let it air dry naturally in sunlight whenever possible.
NATURAl RATTAN
Cleaning your natural rattan furniture is simple!
- For routine cleaning, use your vacuum's brush attachment to clear dust from woven surfaces and crevices. If additional cleaning is needed, wipe the frame with a damp microfiber cloth to remove dirt buildup. For dried residues, a toothbrush or soft brush can help loosen them; allow the area to air-dry once clean.
- Ensure rattan furniture is thoroughly dried and avoid soaking it in water. If it becomes too wet, drying it in the sun is ideal. Rattan typically retains its shape, so be careful not to bend it while wet.
- Rattan, like other materials, can develop mold. Regardless of climate, humidity can expose your rattan to moisture. Treat mildew promptly using a strong bleach solution on affected areas and dry furniture outdoors immediately.
- Lift rather than drag rattan furniture to prevent fiber splitting.
- Our products include nylon glides to protect rattan legs from floor moisture. These may wear over time; contact us for replacements if needed.
- Avoid placing furniture near extreme heat or direct sun light to prevent warping, drying and discolor.
EXOTIC SOLID WOOD (Suar)
Caring for wooden furniture is crucial for ensuring its longevity and preserving its aesthetic appeal. Here are some helpful tips for maintaining your wooden furniture:
- Keep it clean: Regularly dust your wooden pieces with a soft, dry cloth to eliminate dirt and debris.
- Avoid harsh chemicals: If simple dusting doesn’t suffice for stains, opt for a mixture of equal parts water and vinegar. This natural solution will effectively clean the surface without harming the wood. Afterward, rinse with a damp cloth and dry properly.
- Minimize moisture exposure: Avoid leaving water or other liquids on your wooden furniture for extended periods, as this can cause the wood to swell and warp.
- Protect from sunlight: Direct sunlight can fade and damage the finish of your wood. Position your furniture away from harsh sunlight for optimal protection.
- Use coasters: Always place coasters under drinks and other items to shield the wood from scratches and moisture damage. This helps prevent unsightly water rings from marring the surface of your beautiful furniture.
- Apply furniture polish: Regularly use furniture polish to protect and enhance the appearance of your wood. Apply it in small amounts to avoid a greasy finish that takes longer to dry.
- Lift, don’t drag: When moving objects across your wooden furniture, be sure to lift them instead of dragging, as this can lead to scratches and damage.
TEXTILE
- Regularly vacuum or lightly brush your upholstery to eliminate dust.
- Address stains promptly by blotting up any excess with absorbent paper, then clean the affected area using water or a mild soap solution, allowing it to air dry. If stains persist, repeat this process.
- For removable covers, machine wash in cold water (maximum 30ºC) with a gentle detergent. Avoid using bleach and do not tumble dry. Instead, air dry flat and keep out of direct sunlight for extended periods.
- Professional dry cleaning is also an option.
- For decorative cushions we recommend dry cleaning. You can use a warm iron (up to 150°C) to press out any creases, ideally by protecting the material with a tea towel or similar.
DECORATIVE CERAMIC
!!! Do not fill with water and liquids. !!!
Cleaning methods:
- Never use a dishwasher for our decorative ceramics, and avoid using household bleaches or strong cleaning agents. Instead, dampen a cotton wool swab in warm water with a little detergent (no more than a few drops per liter of water).
- Gently roll the swabs over the surface, and refrain from scrubbing.
METALS
Any metal furniture or parts are easy to clean. Washing with soap or a mild detergent and warm water followed by a clean water rinse is usually quite adequate to clean the steel surface.
Final Thoughts:
Weekly light cleaning combined with regular deep cleaning prevents damage and keeps your furniture pristine for years. By adhering to these simple maintenance tips, you'll ensure your furniture remains a valuable investment, preserving its design and integrity for years to come.
